Photography is a form of “seeing.” When looking at the world, different photographers, because of dissimilar backgrounds and ways of thinking, react differently or are attracted to different extents to a scenery, object or event. It is their level of attraction and their reaction that decides what they photograph.
 
     With the fast development of digital technology, unprecedented changes are taking place in our society. People’s habits in relation to and value judgments towards information have been imperceptibly influenced by uncertainty about its believability, its diversity and complexity, its ease of access and its fast transmission. The ability of ordinary people to reflect has been lowered, and flashy visuals and sound effects have filled the void created by this. The same changes have taken place in art. The convenience of digital technology has allowed many artists to get involved. The time it takes to make art has been reduced and artists and works of art have increased. And art itself has become more diverse and complex. However, despite all this, there seems to be lacking a “spiritual conversation” about “purity”.
 
     There was a deliberate simplification of the subject matters in “Seeing and Construction” series. Brief moments of “vacuum” were captured from the complexity and perplexity of real life and our environment and a conversation between the visual, soul and environment entered into. These pieces are pure visual interactions of things symbolic of my surroundings that tell of certain difficulties I face in my life-a combination of the symbolic and the visual and an emotional release.


​攝影是一種「看」的行為。觀看的過程中,不同的攝影者,因個人不同的生活背景及身心理狀態,對環境中所存在之景物、實體或事件,可能產生不同程度之吸引力或心理反應,這些吸引力或心理反應,決定了攝影者在視框中所選擇之拍攝對象。
 
隨著數位化科技的快速發展,人類的生活發生了前所未有的改變,資訊的迅速傳播、易獲得、多元複雜及可信度的不確定,使得多數人在無意識及被動的情形下面對著這些來源,不知不覺中影響了多數人的習慣與價值判斷,一般人思考的能力降低了,取而代之的是精彩剌激的視聽效果。在影像創作上也是如此,數位科技所帶來的方便性,讓許多創作者大量投入,創作的速度變快、創作者及作品數變多、作品所呈載的元素也更多元複雜,但似乎少了一股「純」、「淨」的心靈對話。
 
「情緒地景」系列作品拍攝過程,刻意單純化眼前所見,從複雜的現實生活與環境中獲得一個片刻的「真空」,進入「視覺」、「心靈」與「環境」的對話,是純粹個人在生活當中,對周遭環境之符號的視覺互動,傳達了生活中的某種困境,是一種符號與視覺的糾纏,以及情緒的釋放。
